Presentation
A seasoned and enthusiastic sailor in both singlehanded and double-handed format, the Breton skipper excels through his tenacity and his ability to keep pushing the envelope
Three months after securing third place in the Vendée Globe 2016-2017, Jérémie Beyou setting off on his fourth consecutive campaign in the singlehanded round the world race, alongside a new partner, Charal. In April 2017, the Charal company announced its partnership with Jérémie Beyou and his team through until 2022.
“The Vendée Globe is an extraordinary race. I’ve been lucky enough to complete it in third place. It’s not just down to luck though, there’s also a lot of work involved for the whole team and I’m convinced that with these same people and with Charal, who have been supporting me with my approach, I’m capable of bettering third. Charal is the perfect partner for enabling me to win the Vendée Globe,” comments the skipper from Finistère in NW France.
On November 8, 2020, Jérémie set off on his fourth Vendée Globe. The skipper of Charal finished 13th in the round-the-world race after a voyage initially marked by an early return to Port Olona to repair various damages just a few days after the start. After a return to the race 9 days after his competitors, and a well-run course, he managed to overtake 13 IMOCA boats. A great reward for the skipper who started this challenge as one of the great favourites this year and who had to fight against his competitive temperament to achieve other goals.
